Do you have suggestions for packing?
Yes. Start off with the list of supplies you’ll need to complete the workshops at the retreat. Next, make a list of a project or two that you’d like to take with you. This will quickly help narrow your supplies and what you really need to take with you. Using the list, now you can go through it one by one.
If an item appears a few times on the list, you may need to take twice the amount. After you have list – it is time to start gathering!
Using your list, gather each item then place a checkmark next to the item so you know you are done. Then put it into one pile on a clean surface or work station. Looking at your pile of supplies organize them. Put like things together and make sub-piles.
Fold your fabric into nice stacks. Use baggies and put all the supplies for each project inside. If it doesn’t fit, consider using a larger bag or a second bag– with a big note as to what project it belongs.
Now it’s time to load it up. I love using the large recycled bags with handles to haul my projects. It is heavy duty and no matter how much I have put in the bag it won’t break. There is something about the square bottom that allows me to really load up. I may also use a wicker laundry basket for packing up the smaller bundles.
There are going to be items used for several workshops and projects. This can include scissors, rotary cutters, threads, needles, pins and rulers – basic supplies. I keep all that in my mini notions box.
Finally, pack up your sewing machine in a padded box or its original container. And don’t worry – we can help you unload at the retreat if that’s a concern for you. And then the magic begins – making those supplies into awesome completed projects at the sewing retreat!
